LeBron leads Lakers past Grizzlies; Bulls top Knicks in heartbreaker
Grizzlies-Lakers. Father time defeated?
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?! For 22 seasons, we have been blessed with the opportunity to watch LeBron James dominate the game of basketball. Last night was no different. With Anthony Davis on the bench battling foul trouble, the Lakers found themselves down 6 with 3:51 in the third. LeBron joined AD on the bench with the Lakers down seven and 2:43 to go. As the aroma of uncertainty filled the air, rookie Dalton Knecht scored 10 points late in the third to keep the Lakers alive. James played 11 of 12 minutes in the fourth, controlling the action, notching 9 points, seven boards, and five assists as L.A. outscored Memphis 37-27 to remain undefeated(6-0) at home for the first time since 2010-11. James’ 35/14/12 triple-double etched him as the oldest player to record three straight.
Bulls-Knicks. Thriller in the Mecca.
The Knicks suffered a heartbreaking 124-123 loss to the Bulls, and no, we are not in 1992. With the start of a four-game homestand against sub-.500 teams, the then 5-5 Knicks looked to become the third team in the East to achieve a winning record. Down 22 in the third, the Knicks truly embodied the heart of the city, digging deep and capturing the lead into the waning seconds. Led by newly acquired Karl Anthony Towns’ 46 points, the Knicks were in a favorable position to leave the Mecca with a W. A slugfest, Jalen Brunson gave the Knicks a two-point lead with three seconds left before a gut-wrenching foul was called on Josh Hart during a Coby White three. Three made free throws gave Chicago the lead, and Brunson’s potential game-winner rimmed out.
