Emotions ran rampant all night as Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return to the Bay. Turning into an instant classic, Stephen Curry spoiled Klay’s homecoming with a late 12-3 flurry, sending Klay and the Mavericks home to Dallas with a hot L. Prior to tip-off, Golden State honored Klay Thompson by giving out Sailor hats to attending fans, a minute-long tribute video, and over 400 employees who lined the entrance walkway cheering Klay on as he walked through the visitor’s entrance. Klay came out hot before finishing with 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists in 33 minutes, including 6-12 from three. His eight points scored in the fourth quarter were not enough as he missed a go-ahead three in the final two minutes, crushing Dallas’ hopes of completing a 13-point second-half comeback.
Hawks-Celtics. No Trae? No problem!
Is the Trae Young era in Atlanta officially over? Coming off back-to-back losses and their franchise player out, the already suffering Hawks were set up for failure against the reigning champion Boston Celtics. Dyson Daniels was the reason for the season, practicing thievery all night, pocketing six steals, and notching a career-high 30 points on 14/22 shooting. Jalen Johnson’s 16-point, 11 rebounds, and assist triple-double showed why he is an early candidate for the Most Improved Player award. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 37 points on 64% shooting but missed a midrange jumper in the waning seconds that would have given the Celtics the win,
