Eastern Conference Finals Review
#1) Boston Celtics vs #6) Indiana Pacers
(BOS wins 4-0)
SWEEP! The Boston Celtics, who won a league-wide season-high 64 games, have clinched their second NBA Finals berth in three years while sending the Indiana Pacers to Cancun on an express flight. This has been a polarizing playoff run for the Celtics. Some say they’ve been dominant, many say this has been the easiest path to the NBA Finals in the league’s history, but whichever side you fall on, the numbers point to dominance by the '23-‘24 Boston Celtics. Each series took no more than five games for the Celtics to dispatch their opponents. They enter the finals on a short list of teams to enter the NBA finals with less than 20 total losses(regular season + playoffs) for the season; this list includes some all-time teams, such as the 2001 Lakers. After the Celtics loss in the 2022 NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors, Jayson Tatum said he ran out of gas and did not have his legs, so this playoff run, although easy, could be a blessing in disguise. Of the 14 games it took for the Celtics to make the finals, their opposition missed an All-Star player in nine, most recently Tyrese Haliburton, who missed three games this series. The Celtics have been knocking on the door for years and look to finally bust through. Seven teams have made six finals in eight years; of them, the Celtics are the only ones not to win a title. This year, they look to break the trend. The path has never been clearer.
Have the Boston Celtics been dominant, or have their path been easy? How will they do in the NBA Finals? Comment your thoughts below!
