Wolves Outshine Suns

On October 2nd, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Julius Randle from the Knicks in a polarizing blockbuster trade. On November 17, Randle hit the game-winning three as time expired from the top of the key off an inbound pass. With Kevin Durant sidelined indefinitely, suffering a calf injury, Devin Booker carried the load for the Suns, erupting for 44 points while also serving teammates in the process, accounting for seven assists. In the first half, the Suns, led by as many as 16 points, had the momentum but couldn’t capitalize and bury the Wolves. Randle had his best game thus far as a Timberwolf, being a consistent scorer the team could lean on, encapsulated perfectly by his game-winning shot. Anthony Edwards had a quiet first half, scoring just four points, which was his lowest in the first half this season. Edwards would pick it up in the second half, finishing with 24 points, but Randle’s performance carried the team.

The Wolves entered this game 7-6, eagerly seeking consistency and cohesion. This win marks their second in a row and, hopefully, the start of a run. Currently, the Wolves are in 7th place in the West, which is pole position for the Play-In. For a team with championship aspirations, battling in and out of play-in spots is NOT where the Wolves would like to be.
